Opening the Door 2013
door, small amp with exposed input, cut off turtle neck, brown pants, neutral shoes, clip light. 1 performer.
Using a free standing door, or door in the architecture of the space, the performer allows the action of opening and closing a door to be studied kinesteticly by the audience. How is the apparently simple action made visible? The audience is encouraged to move freely around the space to view the piece as a kinectic sculpture. What physical sensations are experienced? They write about their experience on slips of paper. The audience is also given the exposed amp chord and make the drone that is the soundscape for the piece.
